I'm back....stronger:)

It has been a while, since i updated my beloved blog...I have not abandoned it but guess life as a working adult is nothing much to be updated about...LOL.

My last post, was about my graduation, and now, I''ve survived and completed my first posting in Paeds. In short, i.is.love.paeds.com:)
Rainbow ward.
What a nice name right. It feels like a covenant btw God and myself:)
Just like how Noah had a covenant with God during the 40 days of flood as well!
So God was with me throught my 4 months in Paeds!
my Partner in Crime, Axel from Sweden!
Thank God for him coz sometimes when the ward goes a whee bit busy, this partner of mine would pop up and give me a helping hand! Phew...:)This little hidden room is called the Dinasaur Room! Nicely decorated and loaded with toys, main aim is to distract these children when their bloods being taken or when we try to put a cannula in....Teehee...
What i did most? BABY CHECKs!! Think got more than 100 babies!
I have been whee-ed, poo-ed, vommitted..all sorts..but i is PRO in handling them now:)
*wink*

4 months had gone passed with ups and downs.. And now, I am posted to ELDERLY care. It's a huge leap, it's so challenging. It's VERY different from my previos work.
My 3rd day today has striked me deeply :'(
Many elderly patients in ward, immobile, confused and not eating/drinking!
Despite being in the hospital..they're NOT improving to baseline :(
The whole hospital is SUPER understaff. Patients not reviewed by seniors. Nurses didnt take care of them properly. All of them are just busy with PAPERWORK! Arghhhh..

I was asked to put a cannula in this old frail man, coz he is not drinking, so we decided to give him some IV fluids stat. Sensible.
Though his hands are all bruised ( due to the bloods taken off them almost everyday for testing!), I managed to put a small cannula in. Good. Then I casually asked him.
'Sir, why are you not drinking? U looked really dry'
He just stared at me. I smiled in return:)
Me being me, immediately picked up his tea and put the straw in his mouth.
Gosh, he was seeping ALL of it, and wanted more! I quickly ran to the kitchen and brought another cup of water. GOOD SIGN indeed:)
*if only all these patients have PROPER TLC from the nursing team*
Then as I walked away, I realised the floor next to his bed was wet. WEIRD I thought, then I checked again, oh noo, his urine bag has been leaking and nobody has noticed it! Urine was all over with a pungent smell.
Just as I wanted to ask a nurse to clean the mess, ALL of them were busy pitsy!
Instead of waiting for them, i decided to go and change the bag myself.
No wonder these patients stay in the ward for MONTHs!
How sad :'(

Having said that, working life is TOTAL different from life as a care-free student.
U have more responsibilities, u're dealing with REAL LIVES and having a DR infront of your name is no glamour at all..but mere STRESS! You hv no idea whatever you wrote on that piece of patient's clinical notes would one day bring you to court and become a piece of evident! I am scared, I have made mistakes, I have received incident forms from colleagues, but I learned my lessons. It's a journey of learning, no doubt. But it has taught me to be tougher and stronger.

At this moment, i felt very incompetent.
An old patient almost died infront of my eyes, gasping for air, her daughter crying hysterically.
Suddenly, he stopped breathing for 20 secs. I almost dived into his chest to do a CPR.
Phew..he started breathing again.

Relieved.
Honestly, i was terrified at that time.

WasSup Doc:
Everyday is an EXAM to me. I have no idea what patient is coming through that door. I need to be prepared and be at my feet all the time.
I need God's grace in guiding me throughout.

I'm DONE for now:)

ANNOUNCEMENT: I AM DONE for UNDERGRADUATE!!!! WheeeEE:)

Hah..it has been ages since I update my beloved blog :)
Was uber busy with moving (FINALLY OFFICIALLY a WIGAN resident!), settling in this new environement, not to mention my work in the hospital...phew..TGIF! Survived first week in the ward and now, am lazy-ing at home after work, updating my abandoned blog!

Parents were here and I must MUST emphasize it was the BEST TIME I had throughout these 3 years in UK! There is no better place other than when being with family members! Cried like a baby when they left after their 3 weeks here to help me settle in. They are the BEST parents anyone could ask for...The many times they drove up and down from Manchester to Wigan, just to help me move stuff, the nights when they cooked yummy breakfast and dinner before and after my work and even helping me to assemble my beds/table and unpacking my stuff while am away for work..the list could go on and on...I HAVE THE BEST PARENTS IN THE WORLD!
The MANY things...that belongs to me..AS USUAL :P
Of course they are all well sorted and arranged now..my home is REALLY nice, but nope, I shall post them up later..:)

Graduation was smacked in between my shadowing week as well. Long and tiring day for us but it was THE day for me indeed. Had so much fun on that special day..20.7.2011..I will always remember you~...5.5years....FINALLY all hardwork was paid OFF! What a relief for my parents too....Having said that, I question myself again...again, it was the sacrifice and love from my parents who has made THIS DAY possible! Without them, I am no where near where I am now.WE, went through thick and thin. There we are here..GRADUATED finally:)
my lovely family in Christ from Manchester..came all the way to bless us:) AWESOME, aren't they:)3 years ago, I had my half way graduation in Malaysia..*i was soo thin that time, geram!* 3 years later...put on a chubby face but yessss...I can finally put on a mokhtar board:)

After 5.5 years..I made it finally.
It was stressful, It was difficult and there were times I just want to give.
But my dad and mum have been so supportive all the way.
God was faithful in the end~

Am currently working in a Paediatrics ward.
Survived the first week in the postnatal ward, doing baby checks.
Some were healthy, some were not.
Cuddling sick babies in my hands was not a good feeling at all:(
Their frail and small frames made me want to hold them tighter
As they shivered and slept on my arms, I uttered a prayer, that God will heal them up quick so that they are able to embrace the colourful world out there, just like other kids are doing.

Moving project to Wigan!

Many should have known by now that yes, Angie is moving to WIGAN for my FY1 work. Jobs starting on the 18th of July for 2 weeks of shadowing and officially as a FY1 doctor on the 1st of August! Fear? yes I do. Kancheong? Definitely..but I shall stand still with God, because He has been faithful so far and I am 100% He will continue be..Let me share my recent encounter with God bout my moving to WIGAN! ;) He is one GOOD God, I shall PROCLAIM that AGAIN!

30th June 2011:
I got my keys to my little flat in Wigan. Signed my contract and a much relieved status after knowing I FINALLY SECURE A PLACE:) That night was the 1st night I slept in my flat..in a sleeping bag on the floor..Hehe..not too bad, because the whole house is well insulated, so basically..not very cold and it was a peaceful night...

WHY did I choose to camp in my flat? It was because I needed to wait for the mattresses and also bed frames to arrive on the second day. I was told they can come anytime between 8am to 6pm. So I didn't want to take the early train the second day and thus I resorted to 'camping' :)
My lunch in the empty flat......just God and me.

1st July 2011:
Woke up feeling slight back ache, but it's ok, just the normal pain sleeping on floor I guess. Packed up, and had my breakfast. The wait began. 10.05am...'dingdong!' There come my stuff, I thought, woohoo....they're quite early! Happy was me because I wanted to go back earlier to catch Transformers with my fellow churchmates!

The man delivered my matrresses ONLY..WHERE is my bed frame? Little did I know, they actually come from different supplier and thus, another person should be delivering it for me.
Allright...the wait continued...
1, 2, 3, 4, 5..few hours passed by..no signs of any man delivering it...up to 9 hours..5pm! I was anxious..tried calling the company to check whereabout my frame were..NOPE, couldnt get through. Tried emailing them and complained bout it...NOPE, no reply...TRIED tracking down the status of my ordered products via internet..NOPE, number given was to a communication company instead..I tried everything and all was in vain!

Frustrated as I was....I could do nothing..deep in my heart, there was a warfare between God and myself. WHY..I asked?! You have brought me this far and WHY I still need to go through such....nvm. 30 more minutes to deadline of the day! The DEVIL IS TRYING to KILL, STEAL and DESTROY! Then I decided, calmed down, hold myself together, uttered a prayer to God. 'Lord, I have tried ALL MEANS, and if THIS is your will..HELP ME PLEASE..SOS!
15 mins passed....
MY PHONE RANG! 'Hi Miss Teo, I am so and so calling from BedRoomWorld!' Viola..thats where I ordered my STUFF! She read my email regarding changing of mattress size (we ordered 2 queen size bed initially, but later found out that the 2nd room fits a single better, so had to made last minute changes before it was delivered) and thus gave me a call...Immediately I asked her regarding my bed frames! Phew..God sent indeed, she recognised the problem and has arranged another delivery on Tuesday for me, esp sizes of the beds were all sorted as well.

Despite the almost 10 hours wait...at least a problem has been solved by God's grace..He is still IN CONTROL! Patience is one fruit of the spirit and I shall embrace that fruit:) Let's just hope coming Tuesday will be a good and FAST day!

But many thanks to FRIENDS all over the world who were constantly me comforting me throughout the wait.
You know who you are:)
Friend A: Prayers can move mountains...be cheerful babe!
Friend B: God has a purpose for all these to happen...it has it's own outcome. I'm just here to remind you because you once told me so.
Friend C: If things had to happen that way, they had to...
At least I was kept occupied slightly.

Now come another testimony of God's provision for my SOFA! Indeed when we said Jesus is Jehovah Jireh..HE WILL PROVIDE!
I have been searching for furniture for DAYS coz i really dun wanna spend money on furniture, knowing ppl are giving out for free. plus we are not going to stay there for long. One day after another, i made enquiries, online search(gumtree-second hand shops) and all...but all in vain, still quite pricey i tot.
Last Sunday morning, before i went to church,i became more stress and upset, i actually really wanted sofa.I made like 3-4 enquiries bout it, but nobody reply in the freecycle website. then Aunt Pei Ching(a friend of mine from church) called and told me 2 days ago, that she has given her sofa away dy..so lagi heart pain....but my devotions reminded me that very morning 'cast your anxiety on Him, because He cares...then off i went to church.

Then came this guy called Martin, a friend from SF .He has moved to manchester recently and bought a place..Helen told me he has few coffee tables to give away..so I asked if I can get one from him and he said yes..ok...GOOD, coffee table...DONE! Then as we chatted n chatted..he randomly asked...hey Angie, by any chance do u wan sofa as well?! *my jaw dropped* Are u seriously giving away your SOFA??! Do you know that's WAT I WANTED SO EAGERLY ages ago!! I wan THE sofa...and oh my..God has answered my prayerS instantly!!! I was such happy bunny that time!
Spot my nais big IKEA sofa...it's really stylo and bouncy! And I'm sure...my little flat LURVEs it because ANGIE has been greatly blessed by it :))) THANKiEs MARTIN!!!but moving it into my place wasn't an easy job. Due to the spiral staircase, the guys did struggled a bit..'turn to right, move one step, WATCH OUT THE WALL and LIGHTS!' It was hilarious but phew..it finally made it way to the ultimate destination:) These guys are just AWESOME

Not only that, God sent Uncle Wing Kwan and friends to help my moving yesterday! Not done yet, but at least, the SOFA and COFFEE TABLE are sorted...Their DOING the EXTRA MILE for us....very very touched!
::This is L.O.V.E::

Your acts of service...much appreciated!

There is still another major MOVING PROJECT when Lily is back! Then our little flat should be ready before our work starts...
Ly..faster come back and join the fun k!
:)

I shall not give up as yet..because God hasn't say..STOP ANGIE;)

My Up and About :D

Praise the LORD...Hallelujah~
Finally my main worry i.e my accomodation in Wigan is all sorted now!
Signed the contract 2 days ago and official moving in date is set...30th June!!!
Cant wait to move in and settle down now..it's been a constant stress, taking train to and fro Wigan just for houses viewing and so much uncertainties along the way...i am exhausted, but that has come to past now..because I HAVE FOUND A NICE AND COMFY PLACE in WIGAN! *beams*

All glory to my ALL MIGHTY God because initially, my plan was to get this accomodation sorted before I leave for Italy, which was end of May. Then I need not worry bout it during my trip and when I come back, I could just start moving in slowly and get some furniture for my new place (note: it's unfurnished)

However, things didnt go quite well as I wanted it to be. While I was in Italy, I received calls from my agent that there were some problems regarding my application forms, they needed more evidence to prove that I am in UK for almost 3 years dy. Me being the super anxious typo immediately rang up my previous landlord to provide more evidence and tried to talk things through..but really thank God for friends in Italy who constantly prayed for me and even calmed me down, thinking how to write a gentle letter but still DEMANDING them to act FAST! Lol....Phew..it was in Florence, I could still remember when we couldnt go out to jalan jalan because of the heavy downpour and was forced to stay in our room...but God's timing was just perfect..if we were out, then I wouldnt be able to settle it dy..but my phone bills rocketed for this month loo :'( !! Nvm nvm..at least I got my accom DONE, finally!

Come to think about it..despite all the circumstances along the way..everything turned out well, in the sense that I managed to SKIP the June rental, which is what I wanted most because I'm currently still paying for my room in Manchester...so YipeeEEe....save some money on that then!
God is ALWAYS ALWAYS in control...SLOWLY I can see, and SURELY He will act accordingly. Woah...My God is AWESOME laaa!!!

So yupsie...BIG THANKS to all of my dearest friends who have been constantly praying for me, really appreciate all prayers throughout these 3 months of house hunting. I am relieved:) And yes, do come for a visit in Wigan. Not a fantastic high class apartment, but it's comfy, with 2 very hospitable hosts:) I can guarantee that...confirmed plus chopped! (learned this phrase from the Singaporeans guys in Italy..Lol)So a sneak view outside our humble flat :)
*stay tuned for more pics, inside*

a DATE with the Mighty Lady

Just got back from Edinburgh, my favourite city in the whole United Kingdom!!!!
It's always fun filled + happy times there!

Spending quality time the mighty lady in Edinburgh is smth I look forward to almost every year because this gurl is just so inspirational and God fearing! A great sister in Christ whom I look up to all the time! It's my third time there and am lurving that place more and more.....I just stood in wonder again and again when I walked along the street.

Since this mighty lady is going back to Singapore for good, this trip to Edinburgh has been rather chilling and main aim was to spend more time with her because we might not see each other so often anymore:( There will be no more Edinburgh expedition when she leaves...but oh well, let it be a happy post k!
Ivy, my dearest Mighty Lady~
Having our pot of salad...this spelled..L.O.V.E!
Strolling along Princess Street, overseeing the majestic Castle across the street is pure joy!
EdinburgerS are really fun people to hang out with:)

We even went for bowling after church...random but fun filled time:)
Then on my final day, Wayne and Ivy decided that we should conduct a Walking Tour around Edinburgh for me. We brought our backpack and act like typical tourists exploring Edinburgh! Thanks to our tour guide: Wayne Lee, with his superb imagination and made-up backgrouns history about Edinburgh (err..he is from Glasgow aactually..hehe) Liking it~We visited the Castle
Stopped by the Princess Parkand even had our lunch at the TOURISTs WILL GO place for lunch- Mussel Inn:)

Big thanks to my beloved tour guides:) They are awesome!
You shall never walk alone:)

Going to miss the good time we shared in Edinburgh.
The relaxing walk along Princess Street
The early morning breakfast ( Bagel + Egg+ Tea + Fruits)
The late night sofa talks, prayers and sharings.

Best wishes to you and love u much, sister!
I shall see you....in S'pore, maybe..hehe!

A dream come true

I have always wanted to visit the Italian land since young. Legendary colosseum, unlimited flow of gelato and the scenic breath taking views of Italy have always seemed so far fetched for me. And came this Italy plan of 4 random children of God, decided to come together and invade this foreign land within 12 days!
It was of total challenge for us four because we have never travelled to anywhere as a group before. Not only that, to spend a 12 days together, 24/7 is definitely something we have to bear in mind. Us, despite coming from different backgrounds-- John and myself the medics, Aileen, the pharmacist and Tim, the lawyer, turned out to be perfect travelling buddies one could ever asked for:) 2 Singaporean boys and 2 Malaysian girls..went on ONE mission- Conquer ITALY;)
Aileen, a young gurl with very mature thinking and faithful child of God has been a great encouragement throughout this trip. I could remember vividly we shared that before the trip, we prayed individually asking God whether this trip was of God and if not, just shut the door completely in fear of any conflicts that will rise. But truely it WAS by God's willing because us four enjoyed ourselves soOoo much!
Most memorable moment: To beat the queue and were the FIRST to arrive at the Colosseum( waited an hour infront of the gate!) after we saw the crowd queueing up round and round the Colosseum the day before. Being the kiasu Chinese, we started our day early, wanting to guarantee a place to explore the majestic ruin!
Most exciting momentS:
1) Me, being the demanding 'principal', forced my fellow 'students' to pose and pose and pose for picture! After a good 12 days of training, boy they're getting BETTER! ;)

2) Karaoke-ing along the Italian streets( because we had to walk so much) with BSB classic songs, Jay's romantic hits and all time favourite praising songs to God. Despite hiding at a corner in the Roman forum because of heavy pour of rain, we were still singing 'give thanks' to our dear Lord! *Amazing*

3) 800 buddha claps( a deltoid muscle exercise) military training in our hostels. Thanks to the 2 Singaporeans Commanders..John and Tim! *i can feel my deltoid a whee bit tone now:P)

4) Good time of fellowship playing Cards- Bridge + Hearts + DaiDi..we are the PRO now after hours of training as we travel in the train from one city to another....

5) Started a trend of Video Blogging. Thanks to Aileen! 'Hey guys...we're now at xxx...' Such fun to look back all the 50+ videos we made, fooling ourselves around, thinking there are like thousand fans over the world youtubing our videos..but in reality..ZERO click or ZERO subscriber...WAkakakak...great fun though!
6) The gelato HUNT over our 12 days trip. Thanks to Lonely Planet. We tried like 7-8 different gelateria's gelato and seriously....WHY SO NAIS one? *though am not an ice cream person:P* FACT: The best gelato we had was in MILAN, in a small little corner shop called La Conne!not to forget, each other's company:) We clicked so well and indeed good time FLIES. 12 days of touring around Italy gone by so FAST! We managed to cover around 8 cities/towns..
Rome+ Vatican City - Naples - Florence - Venice+Murano+Burano - Pisa - Lake Como - Bergamo - Milan
Thanks to Interrail Pass...Travelling via train was soo convenient and of reasonable price.*pic taken in the Colosseum*
but the ULTIMATE glory belongs to God because He has made this trip possible for us! We prayed almost every night before we go to bed together for His protection, for good weather, for perfect timings and good time of fellowship. Indeed, to travel with them 4 is something I should really give thanks for. It was a total different experience travelling with God's children because we know God is in control of our trip and He will guide us where to go, who we will meet and even which train to get on! There were so many incidences throughout the trip that we could see His hands in control, as we almost missed the connecting train but faithfully, He made a way and let us got onto the right train at the right time! Never will it be so coincidence if it wasn't Him:)

finally, my lifetime chocolate love- BACI( a.k.a kisses), which origin is from Perugina, Italy~
Started loving this when I came across an author who mentioned it in her novel about her hols in Italy. During that time, she did mention that Baci is only sold in Italy (though we can buy it from Malaysia now as well) Super fascinated bout this choc since then.
Later, sis really bought it back from Italy for me to try..
why i lurve?
'Luisa', Perugina's finest choc, enveloping the heart of each Bacio was the true calling card...
each silver foil embrace the chopped hazelnut chocolate with perfection, containing a love note in each of them expressing the most captivating romantic phrases.

This, a blend of reality and myth, is how Baci became part of Italian folklore and my lurve:)

POWER packed week!

Despite the fact that I have finished all my classes last week, it has been a real busy week for me for the week just passed.

Accomodation in Wigan is still pending though I have decided on a 2 rooms flat. I have yet to hear from them because I am supposed to go through some credit checks to make sure I have sufficient fund to rent that place and also I am actually fully employed once I started renting that place. It was a roller coaster figuring out where is the best place to stay and had to went up Wigan three times was a pain. And now, I just hope my decision will turn out to be right and according to God's plan. :( *Do keep us in prayer about this matter*Another reason of being a busy week was I applied for this 5 days FREE pass to Fitness First, and me wanting to lose some weight URGENTLY went to FF almost everyday or sometimes twice a day for their classes like Body combat, Body attack, Body Balance and Zumba..of all, ZUMBA was the BEST..Lol. Enjoyed it so much that I don't feel like am actually exercising..LOL..Burning calories can indeed be FUN FILLED:)

Had a slightly longer weekend this week because Monday is a Bank Holiday here! But to me, it made no difference beacuse I am already OFF anyway... HOWEVER, I have visitors over from London~ Mr and Mrs See....!! WHEE~ The Kois reunited in Manchester:)3 years ago, when I left Malaysia, both of them gave me Blackie as a farewell gift:) And now they meet again..hehe! Though we just get to spend a few days together, it was great fun just talking to them..We even watched Champions League together in Trafford Centre! Mere joy discussing how Barca players were bunch of actors! :P
I shall try to visit your lovely 'hostel' in London k!
During the weekend, MCCC organised an evangelistic event as well. People from the ChristiansInSports came over to organise a Sport Quiz for the all who came. We had BBQ at the same time...chill time!

And finally,
we can't deny that Man Utd lost the Champions League to Barca FC, but Man Utd winning the 19th Barclays Premiere League is a FACT! Woohoo..and me, being the random 'hardcore like' fan decided to join the crowd to Old Trafford for their victory parade! Despite the rain and cold, we just want to have some fun:)
See how big shots these players are that they need SOOOO many guards to open way for them!
Cheah and myself infront of the significant '19' Premiere Leagues Champions in Old Trafford:)

After waited for an hour or so, the Man Utd bus finally ARRIVED with their players on the rooftop with the Trophy..singing..' Ole Ole Ole Man Utd!' * a very memorable moment indeed*
then I spotted this sign....this cannot be a fact because on the 7th day, God did not create anything, but He rested instead...:)

So those who are weary and fed up with all the things happening at this moment, take a break and find rest in Him who loves you.

I need that rest too.

i lurve cooking!

but am is not really good at it..unfortunately! But, I shall try harder..Lol!
I bought a whole chicken one day because I offered to cook a meal for a few students who were so stress up over exams! So Aunt Angie decided to be the caterer and delivered to their house so that they need not worry about dinner!

Back to my whole chicken story, it was my first time cutting the whole chicken into smaller pieces! And Jess, I really took up the challenge and cut them:) BUT, i felt like I have mutilated them la...seriously, when it's wings and drumsticks were gone, it feels like...very very sad..yerr:( I think i will think twice when I wanna buy the whole chicken again...
So, the main dish of the night was:: Five spice chicken with shaoxing jiu:)
I think this is THE DISH of mine so far..*Jess, I just came up with this recipe, so you wouldn't have tried it when you were here..Lol! But phew, it turned out well...!and me, being the Bento freak, die die also wanna decorate their packed dinner! So, used a cheese sheet which says 'FIGHT! FIGHT!!' :)

There you go, the complete set of packed dinner for 2, ready for delivery:)

*I is very satisfied with my work lorv:P*

Overheard a student during prayer meeting just now, saying that he just had half a tub of ice cream for dinner because he has no time to buy food, stressing over exams...sigh..kelian daoo:(
I wished I have more time and also a better cook to be able to cater all of those students now..

Maybe next time, I open a catering shop during exams period and invite them over for dinner!

JIAYOU loo...all studenTs:)

God will be your pillar of strength and He will sail you through!

Unexpected surprise!

Came home feeling so down after the house viewing in Wigan wasn't very successful. The agent decided to cancel our appointment at the very last minute:( and that place is our favourite! Ahhhh...oh well, just have to travel there tomorrow again...waste my time, waste my money!!!! Hmmmph!

but then a secret santa decided to give me a HUGE SURPRISE!
I got home, saw my name posted on the reception window saying I have a parcel.
Hah, I didnt buy anything...and why there is a parcel for me. Low and behold, when the guard took a BOX for me instead...hmmm..this is smth I am not expecting. Took it back, and think think think..WHAT IS THIS?!
The BIG BROWN box for mua..
and it's written to DR Angelene Teo! *weird weird weird*
and it's so nicely wrapped in Van Gogh paper gift bag..

I nearly fainted when I saw this..it's the Van Gogh Sunflower Lunch Box I saw in Amsterdam last month!!!
WHO IS THIS SECRET SANTA,
who put in so much effort and sent this ALL over from Netherlands to me!??
it wasn't my birthday, it wasn't Christmas and why you want to give me a gift?!

THANK YOU VERY VERY VERY MUCH, Secret Santa~
I is super LURVE it!
I is very loved! :)

wasSup Doc: Secret Santa oh Secret Sante, your gift meant so much to me... !!!
